Renu Grover serves the Mayor’s team as the Deputy Chief of Staff, where she supports with operations, cross-functional projects, and achieving goals. Prior to serving the City of San Jose, Renu was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, serving State and Local Governments on their strategy and operational needs. Renu previously served as a Strategy Lead to the General Manager and Chief of Police at BART. Renu has 20 years of experience working in the private, non-profit, and public sectors. She loves working collaboratively with and leading teams towards their goals. Renu is a first-generation Indian, born in Maryland and raised in New Jersey. She’s a West Coast spirit with an East Coast heart. She received her M.P.A. from Columbia’s School of International Affairs and her B.A. from the George Washington University. While at Columbia, Renu completed a semester with the Center for Public Research and Leadership out of Columbia Law School, where she specialized in K-12 Educational Policy. Renu is an Alumni Committee Member for Columbia’s Center for Public Research and Leadership and for Columbia University. On her free time, Renu loves to hike, read, cook, and explore the Bay with her husband and dog.
